Thank you for the information about Hawke, who is a key reason for why I left Australia. The Canadian “Patriot” journalist Matt Ehret has an interesting and unusual perspective on these issues, including appreciation of the role that the Russian Czar Alexander II played in supporting the Northern side in the American Civil War. From my Australian perspective Matt is too one-sided in his reading of the virtues and vices of Americans vs Brits. But he is more an ally than an opponent.
