I am aware of a lifelong debt to “cultural Marxism) (i.e. Marcuse, Adorno, Lukacs, Hegel) for emancipating me from the conventional wisdom of Cold War anti-communism (and reaction against it) and providing the beginnings of an intellectual way forward in life.

In today’s conjuncture, where the role of China has come to predominate, the “cultural Marxist” outlook, if this kind of analysis is given its due https://halva.proboards.com/post/2726, remains a guide for adequate intellectual and practical orientation.

The caricaturing so beloved for people of conventional right-wing views, then, now, and always (?) continues to distract more superficial mentalities: ‘a cultural Marxist ideology that teaches that white people are by definition racist, and even that non-whites cannot actually be racist. Anti-racism emphasises systemic and institutional racism as well as “unconscious bias”.

I don’t recall ever reading anything so vulgar in the “cultural Marxist” texts I read back then in the heyday of the post-de Gaulle and post-May 1968 explosion of “cultural Marxism”.
