It has been fairly widely acknowledged that nuclear weapons are a political tool for internal consumption in nuclear weapons states and intimidation of other nuclear weapons states and non-nuclear-weapons states alike.  They are also a standing insult to citizen intelligence, as throughout history has been the fear of hellfire. They insult intelligence because they are without any military utility, are environmentally ruinous and waste enormous amounts of money, energy and mental time. 

I welcome writing that acknowledges these realities and regret that this article of yours is not among such writing.
