I didn’t include any mention of Aegina in “Son of Hydra” because I wasn’t sure when the land was acquired – whether the Sultan granted it to Giorgos along with the title of Bey and governor of Hydra or whether he bought it before he became governor, during his time in office or later, after leaving Hydra, under pressure from the Council. It is true that John’s political views – which were more or less shared in the 1970s, albeit off the record, even by such people as former governor-general Bill Hayden, have not stood the test of time. The collapse of the Soviet Union could not be intellectually integrated by the then probably most influential Trotskyist theoretician, the Belgian economist Ernest Mandel. Specifically Mandel’s belief that the Soviet nuclear arsenal provided “a measure of protection” to the Soviet state as such appears illusory. But John McCarthy’s devotion to justice and in particular to what are now known as “first nation Australians” was unquestionable. Αυτό θα έφερνε το βίντεο πιο κοντά στη συνηθισμένη θεματολογία του Συλλόγου Γυναικών. Μετά από την απόρριψη από το Δ.Σ. όμως κρίνω ότι θα ήταν πιο κατάλληλο να προτείνω μόνο το παραπάνω βίντεο, το οποίο εκτός από το καποδιστριακό περιεχόμενο δείχνει μια αρνητική επίπτωση (ως υπόθεση και χωρίς αποδείξεις) της δράσης του σιωνιστικού λόμπυ στην Αυστραλία. As Australia’s national day the appropriateness of 26th January is now disputed, but in a manner which the majority of Australians clearly find degrading and insulting. In Greece, 26th January, the date when modern Greece’s assassinated first governor was sworn in and the modern Greek state established in 1828, is not officially recognized as a national day except, after years of lobbying by Capodistrias adherents and Aeginetans, it was recognized by presidential decree, as a national day “of local significance”.
